Installing CalyxOS
Note: While this will work on an existing debian install, it is reccomended you make a fresh install as this can delete existing applications
prep
- Download the latest Debian ISO from https://www.debian.org/ (usually
debian-13.x.x-amd64-netinst.iso) - Install Debian normally—default settings are fine
- It doesn't matter if you select a graphical interface or not; CalyxOS will replace it with KDE Plasma
Installing Calyx
after completing the preperation steps, it is time to install Calyx. CalyxOS essentially overhauls Debian, bringig you a sleek and modern desktop, with usefull applications.
Simply run the installation one liner:
wget -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/CStaks/Core-CalyxOS/refs/heads/main/install.sh | bash
During installation, you may be prompted to fix conflicting packages. If on a fresh Debian install it is generally safe to hit y for yes, but if you have been using the Debian install always make sure you are not removing something important.
The script will:
- Remove any existing desktop environments
- Install KDE Plasma with Materia theme
- Install Applications
- Apply CalyxOS branding and Plymouth boot splash, as well as theming
- Reboot automatically
